Abstract
An integral method of analysis is applied to investigate the Görtler vortices in the nonlinear region, and the following results are obtained: (1) The neutral stability diagram obtained for small amplitude vortices shows reasonable agreement with the results of linearized theory by Görtler, Hämmerlin, and Smith. (2) A possible analytical prediction of unsteady meandering motion of vortices is discussed. (3) The stable finite amplitude of Görtler vortices is achieved associated with some distortion of waveform from its original sinusoidal pattern. The results obtained by this analysis are not contradictory to experimental evidence.
