Abstract
This paper compares the subjective and objective uncertainty about the state of a process being monitored by a human operator. These comparisons are made on the basis of data generated in a laboratory experiment. Particular emphasis is placed on the nature of the distribution of uncertainty preceding decisions to sample the process. Keywords
