Abstract
We present a new functional integral approach to the average density of states of a quantum particle in a random potential. As an illustration of the method, the formulas are explicitly evaluated for some one‐dimensional problems; results previously obtained by other methods are recaptured. The formalism for the study of wavefunction localization is also derived. Keywords
