Abstract
The lecithinase activity of 4 V. comma strains and 1 El Tor strain was studied, using the technique of Macfarlane and Knight. All vibrios showed the activity of lecithinase "B," choline-phosphatase and glycero-phosphatase. The optimal temp. was 36[degree]-38[degree] C, the optimal pH 7.4 to 7.6. Ca and Mg in proper concs. stimulated the reaction. While sulfa drugs and barbitals did not influence the enzymatic process, formaldehyde, phenol and fat-soluble narcotics had an inhibitory action. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
