Abstract
SUMMARYWe report the effects of acute hypervolaemic haemodilution, induced before operation, on haemodynamics and systemic oxygenation. Major surgery in an anaemic Jehovah's Witness patient was facilitated with this technique. Some hours after operation, a perioperative decrease in haemoglobin concentration of < 5% was observed, in spite of a blood loss of nearly 50% of the calculated blood volume. Keywords
