Abstract
Implants of oestradiol induced turgescence of the sexual skin of ovariectomised baboons and stimulated mounting by males when the females were released into a study troop. The addition of a progestational agent caused deturgescence of the sexual skin and suppressed sexual activity. There was no doseresponse relationship between oestrogen and behaviour. Mounting was not quantitatively related to the degree of swelling of the sexual skin. Keywords
