Abstract
Ten normal subjects and 10 cancer subjects were placed on a control diet for 4 days. Twenty-four hour urine specimens were collected on the 4th day. These were assayed microbiologically for 14 amino acids. The amounts of free amino acids were determined in urease treated aliquots of the original urine while the total amount of each amino acid was determined in an acid hydrolyzed aliquot of the original urine. Statistical evaluation of the results showed no significant differences below the 1% level in the excretion of 12 of the 14 amino acids by either the normal or the cancer subjects. The free and total amounts of both glycine and histidine were significantly lower in the urines of the cancerous subjects.- Authors. Keywords
