Abstract
THE following discussion of the literature of the past four years concerns several aspects of eczema in infancy and childhood: pathogenesis, general considerations, antihistaminic drugs, milk-free diets, unsaturated fatty acids, treatment of secondary infection, bacitracin, fungi, scabies, Kaposi's varicelliform eruption and eczema vaccinatum, nummular eczema, seasonal eczema due to pollen, blood protein depletion and hospital morbidity of eczematous infants.PathogenesisAtopic dermatitis comprises at least 75 per cent of the "eczema" of infancy and childhood, and in spite of much study the mechanism by which it is produced is still obscure.
