CSF β‐endorphin and β‐lipotropin in Alzheimer's disease and multi‐infarct dementia

Abstract
We measured CSF levels of the opioid peptides β-endorphin and β-lipotropin in patients with Alzheimer's disease, multi-infarct dementia and controls. In both dementia moups, the mean concentration of β-endomhin was significantly lower than in controls. The mean β-lipotropin levels did not differ significantly in the two groups. The low CSF β-endorphin level may relate generally to dementia.
