Canonical packet transmission on the ISI channel with Gaussian noise

Abstract
Generalized decision feedback equalization (GDFE) enables canonical transmission on channels with intersymbol interference and Gaussian noise. There are several special cases of the GDFE, two of which are reviewed: vector-coding (VC) and packet decision feedback. Under special circumstances described, the packet DFE reduces to the well-known DFE as the delay and packet length go to infinity. Under the well-known situation where cyclic-prefixed packet transmission is used, VC reduces to the ADSL standard transmission method known as DMT.
