Abstract
A specimen-transducer-waveguide set was constructed in which the ringing-down, reflections, and resonance are minimised. The transducer and the AE detection system were calibrated and used to measure the forces induced during martensitic transformation in a beta -CuZnAl alloy. Forces between 0.1 and 2 mN were measured while the amplitude analysis of demodulated emission bursts yields the relation (P/P0)12/=1-0.86 log (A/A0).Keywords
