Abstract
The mean number of embryos per cocoon in T. tubifex ranged from 4-11 and was positively correlated with temperature and organic content of the substrate. The mean number of cocoons per worm ranged from 5-18 and was similarly affected. At 15.degree. C, 50% of embryos hatched in 20 days. Higher temperatures shortened developmental time. Sexual maturity of worms was reached in 67 days at 15.degree. C and in less time at higher temperatures and increased organic content of the substrate.
