2:7-Diaminodiphenylene oxide as a reagent in analysis

Abstract
One part of blood in 200,000 parts of water can be detd. by observation of a blue color formed after addition of the reagent with H2O2. Milk gives the same reaction, but boiled milk does not; the color is more pronounced than that of benzidine. Ag, ferric iron, Pt, Au, Ce, Pb, Cu, Mn, Co, I, Chromate, ferricyanide, periodate, persulfate, vanadate, bismuthate, orthophosphate, silicate and cyanide are also detectable by this reagent.
