Localization of blood pressure regulating and erythropoietic functions in rat kidney

Abstract
The cortex and medulla were removed separately from the kidneys of rats in order to localize the site of the blood pressure regulating and erythropoietic functions of this organ. The medulla was also destroyed by injecting vinylamine and by occlusion of the renal vein. The effects of these operations suggest that the blood pressure and erythropoietic functions of the kidney reside in the cortex and not in the medulla as has been claimed.
