Abstract
Reviews the evolution taking place in business information within the Commonwealth of Independent States, particularly relating to organizations formerly of the Soviet Union, and offers advice to those seeking such information. Lists and describes information sources in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, Central Asian republics and Transcaucasian republics. Concludes that searchers would be greatly helped by the agency of a trusted intermediary who understands the system and languages and, although business information is undoubtedly developing, the process is slow and Western researchers will continue to face challenges and difficulties.
