Caledonian Magma Genesis and Crustal Recycling

Abstract
The isotopic compositions of Sr, Nd, Pb and O together with abundance data for Rb, Sr, Sm, Nd, U and Pb are reported for samples from the component parts of the c. 400 Ma old Etive Complex, temporally and spatially related Lorne and Glencoe lavas, and the Dalradian country rocks into which the Complex has been emplaced. These and published data available for other Caledonian granites are used to evaluate the petrogenesis of the Etive Complex in particular, and the role of crustal recycling in the generation and evolution of the Caledonian granites in general.
