Abstract
Child day care is playing an expanding role in our society. With more than 11 million children in day care, health and safety are becoming increasingly important issues. Infectious disease is a primary concern of individuals responsible for the health of individuals in day care. A second major concern is child safety. In order to assure that the day care environment is safe for infants and children, basic policies and procedures need to be implemented and closely monitored. Regular communication and consultation with an individual with expertise in health issues related to day care is necessary if day care is to be a safe environment for children. Keywords
