Abstract
Totarol, a diterpenoid phenol isolated from Podocarpus totara (D. Don ex Lambert) root bark, was found to be active against second- and fourth-instar Culex pipiens Coquillett with the 24 h LC50 values of 0.25 and 0.37 μg/mL, respectively. The mosquito larvicidal activity against C. pipiens increased when bioassays were extended to 48 h. Structural elucidation of totarol was by means of 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and GC-MS analysis. Keywords
