Abstract
The paper presents a new lightwave-microwave phase detector which can be implemented into a MMIC construction. The new phase detector is rather simple and exhibits a good performance. Previously, indirect phase detection has been presented containing PIN photodiodes and a microstrip hybrid. Neither the PIN diodes, nor the microstrip hybrid can be used in a MMIC realization. In the new lightwave-microwave phase detector there is no need for a hybrid and FET's are applied as both photodetectors and microwave detectors. The FET's are very well applicable in MMIC's. Further, avoiding the application of the hybrid the phase detector becomes simpler and its frequency band much broader. Keywords
