Abstract
Methiocarb [4-(methylthio)-3, 5-xylyl N-methylcarbamate] as a seed treatment repelled house sparrows (Passer domesticus) and greenfinches (Carduelis chloris) from sprouting peas (Pisum sativum) in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. Only 0.9% of a partly treated crop was lost, compared with 65% of the control. The cost of treatment was NZ$2.40/ha, 1.4% of the cost of planting peas. Some birds died after eating treated peas. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
