Abstract
Cross sections for the and the reactions were measured from 0.3 to 4.6 GeV incident proton energy. A rise in cross section of (25 ± 3)% is observed for each reaction in the energy region from 0.3 to 1.0 GeV. The () cross sections for were found to be systematically about 30% larger than those for . Comparisons with four prior cases are made. The present results are compared to () cross section calculations up to 1.0 GeV based on a Monte Carlo intranuclear cascade-evaporation model. The model yields cross sections that are generally a factor of 2 greater than the experimental values.
