Abstract
In this issue we inaugurate a new feature in the Journal: "Basic Science for Clinicians," a series of didactic reviews that will appear approximately six to eight times each year. Their purpose will be to provide readers with concise, readable summaries of important new developments in the basic biologic sciences.Why basic science in a clinical journal? With so much else claiming their reading time, how can we justify asking busy clinicians to read about advances in basic biology?This new series can be regarded as a successor to "Physiology in Medicine.
