Abstract
Direct photodissociation of molecules at structured metallic surfaces is considered, where the concepts of optimal and critical distances are introduced into the description of this phenomenon. Numerical results for the distortion of the line shape and the enhancement ratio are obtained for a shallow sinusoidal grating. Keywords
