Abstract
Five Bunyamwera group arbovirus strains were isolated from sentinel rabbits and from mosquitoes belonging to the genera Aedes and Culiseta collected in eastern and central Alaska in 1970–1971. By a serum dilution plaque reduction neutralization test performed in cell cultures, the five strains appear to be identical with each other but different from other North American Bunyamwera group prototype viruses. The name Northway is proposed for this new virus. The significance of Northway virus for use in serologic surveys and ecologic studies is considered briefly. Keywords
