Abstract
The authors demonstrate WDM signal transmission of a total capacity of 120 Gbit/s over 6240 km. Fibre dispersion and amplifier gain are optimised by using individual data channel compensators. It is also shown that applying prechirping to the return-to-zero pulses can improve the SNR by ~2 dB.Keywords
