The darkening effects of secondary electron image due to superconductivity in Y1BA2CU3O7-xfilms

Abstract
The darkening effect of the secondary electron image of the Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x films at superconducting phase transition has been investigated. The cooling of the samples in SEM and simultaneous control over their resistance state made it possible to observe the darkening dynamics. At the state of partial superconductivity the local areas of the darkening were seen as spots and wavy lines of ≃ 0·5μm and more in size. The complete transition of the sample to superconducting state was accompanied by the general image darkening. Such dynamics cannot be connected with the deviations of secondary electrons paths due to Meissner effect. The darkening observed is possibly determined by the change of secondary electron emission in the sample areas in superconducting state.
