Abstract
106 cardiac outputs by cuvette oximeter were detd. in 26 dogs. The thiopental concn. in arterial blood was detd. at the time of each dye injn. There was no relationship between the thiopental concn. in arterial blood and cardiac output, but the duration of thiopental anesthesia (or analgesia) had a definite effect on the cardiac output. There was a decrease in peripheral resistance in repeated detns. The cardiac output increased in successive detns., with only 10 exceptions, in which it either remained unchanged or decreased slightly. The systolic pressure increased more than the diastolic: this led to an increase in pulse pressure. Keywords
