Abstract
The effect of feeding aureomycin to fattening lambs was studied. 3 groups of 6 lambs each were used[long dash]Lot I was fed the basal ration; Lot II, basal ration plus 100 mg. aureomycin daily, orally by capsule; Lot III, basal ration plus 100 mg. aureomycin plus all known B-vits. Control animals (Lot I) gained 0.52 lb./day, while lambs in Lot II lost 0.16 lb./day and those in Lot III lost 0.2 lb./day. Lambs receiving aureomycin went almost entirely off feed. Bacterial counts of rumen contents of lambs fed aureomycin and aureomycin plus vits. were much higher than control animals. Keywords
