Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 72-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of respiratory distress.She was well until 23 years previously, when hypertension was found. Twelve years before admission there was the onset of painful swellings in both lower extremities, and examination disclosed cyanotic, atrophic, cold areas of skin over the anterior aspect of the tibias, with tender swellings. A biopsy specimen from the leg was interpreted as consistent with periarteritis. Adrenal corticosteroid treatment was instituted, with improvement.
