Abstract
BREAST CANCER is the leading cancer in women, with an estimated 203 500 new cases of invasive cancer and 54 300 new cases of in situ breast cancer in 2002.1 It is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women, with an estimated 40 000 deaths in 2002.1 Cancer of the breast is responsible for approximately 31% of new cancers in women and 15% of the deaths due to cancer. Age is the most important risk factor for breast cancer, with both morbidity and mortality increasing after 40 years. The largest increase occurs after 60 years of age.2This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
