Abstract
A new type of undulator with crossed and retarded magnetic fields which enables us to obtain any kind of elliptically polarized synchrotron radiation from relativistic electrons was developed. This undulator was installed in a straight section of the electron storage ring, TERAS, and its polarization characteristics were investigated. The experimental results proved that this device can generate linearly or circularly polarized synchrotron radiation which would be very useful in polarization modulation spectroscopy. Keywords
