Abstract

The C-24 hydrogen atom of the Δ²⁴ precursor is eliminated during biosynthesis of Stigmasterol in tissue cultures of Nicotiana tabaccum and Dioscorea tokoro. Thus the Δ²⁴⁽²⁵⁾ intermediate is involved in Stigmasterol biosynthesis.
