Abstract
Although vertical soundings are of great value in the study of ionospheric structure and dynamics, radio users are concerned with oblique propagation, e.g. point-to-point, broadcasting, and surveillance. In this chapter we concern ourselves with the applications of vertical data to problems encountered in oblique propagation, e.g. with methods of calculating maximum usable frequencies and with identification of echo structures. Keywords
