Note Sur L’Organisation de la Vigilance Sociale Chez le Babouin Papio Papio Dans L’Est Senegalais

Abstract
The study of social vigilance in groups of the Baboon Papio papio shows the prominence of the part played by the juveniles. During the walk, the group constitutes a linear formation; the females together with small infants, as well as the most important males at the rear of the group. Such an organization represents the most efficacious adaptation to the conditions of the habitat (bushy savanna and dry forest).
