Abstract
A suspension radical copoiymerization technique was used to prepare macroreticular copolymers based on hydroxyalkyl methacrylates (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate) cross-linked with mono-, di-, and triethylene glycol dimethacrylate esters. Macroporous structure formation (i.e., amount of dimethacrylate ester, quantity of porogen, its nature, as well as the dimethacrylate structure) has been indicated. Macroporous networks were characterized by the apparent density, pore volume, porosity, specific surface area, IR, TGA, and TDA analyses, and microscopy. Macroreticular copolymers with large and extra-large pores whose mean pore diameters lie between 50 and 1600 nm and whose specific surfaces vary from 2.0 to 189.0 m2/g have been prepared successfully. Keywords
