Abstract
Recent research on bradykinin (BK) antagonists has focused on attempts to increase their potency, specificity and stability. Bradykinin is believed to be an important mediator in a number of pathological conditions such as septic or haemorrhagic shock, anaphylaxis, arthritis, rhinitis, asthma and inflammatory bowel disease. The production of BK has also been associated with angina and the induction of ischaemic brain oedema. This article analyses recent research in both peptide and non-peptide antagonists, by reviewing the patent literature published in this area. Keywords
