Abstract
Circulating adrenal antibodies, tested by the indirect Coons test, were found in 36 of 71 sera from Addisonian patients. Complement-fixing antibodies were found in 24 of these 36 sera. The circulating antibodies were organ specific but not species specific. There was no cross-reactivity with tissue of the adrenal medulla, pheochromocytoma, thyroid, salivary gland, liver, or kidney, and none with monilial organisms. The antigen(s) to which the circulating antibodies are produced is in both the microsomal and mitochondrial fractions. Keywords
