Envelopes of narrow-band signals

Abstract
In some cases, a rapidly oscillating transient term appears in the expression for the envelope of a narrow-band signal. Such terms depend upon the particular definition used to define the envelope. Although these terms are usually so small that they can be neglected, they are of theoretical interest. Here we discuss three commonly used envelope definitions, and derive expressions for the difference between the corresponding envelopes.Keywords
