Syntheses in the Isocamphane Series. XXXI1. 7-Oxacamphenilone, 7-Oxacamphene and 7-Oxacampheneilanic Acid

Abstract
The syntheses of the title compounds and their organoleptic properties are described. 7-Oxacamphenilone (2) has been obtained by two-fold methylation of 7-oxoanorbornan-2-one (1). The synthesis of 7-oxacamophene (5) has been accomplished by dehydration of 7-oxamethylcamphenilol (4). 7-Oxacamphenilanic acid (8) and some derivatives have been prepared starting with 5 by means of a hydroboration step and subsequent oxidation.
