Abstract
Extended investigations of domain patterns and the magnetization curve show clearly that topological defects and their elastic stress fields determine all main properties of the hysteresis loop. Domain patterns are found to be determined by long-range stresses of wavelength λ>1µm. The magnetization processes due to domain wall movements are controlled by short-range stresses varying spatially according to 1/r2-law and with λ<200 ÅKeywords
