Abstract
Observations of the behavior of Brood X were made in 1936 at Clarendon, Arlington County, Virginia. Emergence holes first appeared in late April, 2-3 wks. before the nymphs were ready to emerge and to transform. There was a definite migration to particular tree trunks. Studies were made of the time required by a number of adults to emerge from the pupal skin, and this was found to range from 1 hr., 6 min., to 1 hr., 23 min. The behavior of the newly emerged adults and the songs of the fully matured adults are descr. Mention is made of the occurrence of the fungus Massospora cicadina Peck which affects the nymphs, and of various enemies which prey upon the creatures from the time of emergence. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
