Abstract
Masterson presents a detailed study of 35 of 36 surviving members of a family in which 3rd generation syphilis was demonstrated. Four generations were included in the investigation and TIP tests were performed. The Fournier-Finger requirements for diagnosis of 3d generation syphilis have been fulfilled except for absence of clinical evidence of infantile congenital syphhilis in the patient of the 3d generation. The author does not state the age of the 2d generation patient at the time of the birth of her congenitally syphilitic infant, a factor considered of prime importance by this reviewer, who calculates her age to have been 20 years. Keywords
