Abstract
TREATMENT with pancreatic extracts has the single purpose of correcting the deficits resulting from an absolute or relative deficiency of exocrine pancreatic secretion. This article will review the goals to be accomplished, the quality of the preparations available and ways to give them to adults with pancreatic deficiency.Goals of TherapyWhen 80 per cent or more of pancreatic function is lost, steatorrhea and azotorrhea occur without significant impairment of carbohydrate digestion.
