Modelling heterogeneity in biofilms: Report of the discussion session

Abstract
We must at all times keep in mind how the model and its measurements are to be used. The models should be kept as simple as possible to answer the question of interest. It is unlikely that one model will be of use to all researchers, let alone designers. Rather, there should be a set of models, each designed for a specific purpose. As was stated during the discussion, biofilm models are not like "tube socks" (i.e., athletic socks of one size only).
