Abstract
Brane worlds and large extra dimensions have attracted a lot of attention as possible new paradigms for spacetime. I review the theory of gravity on 3-branes with a focus on the cododimension-one models. However, for a new result it is also pointed out that the cosmological evolution of the 3-brane in the model of Dvali, Gabadadze and Porrati may follow the standard Friedmann equation. Keywords
