Abstract
The oral administration of diethylstilbestrol, dienestrol or hexestrol at levels of 10 mg. per calf per day significantly increased rate of gain in calves fed in drylot over a 179-day period. The feed required per unit of gain was reduced by all three estrogens. The percentages of fat, protein and moisture in entire rib sections at the twelfth rib were rather similar for all treatments; the control group had the most fat and least moisture.
