Abstract
Relationships between GLC behavior and structures of longchain fatty acids are discussed. These relationships have been developed for mono-olefinic and methylene-interrupted polyolefinic acids and have been made possible by the extensive published retention data on polyester phases and by a rationalization of ideas of stationary phase polarity. The relationships have been extended to nonmethylene-interrupted polyolefinic acids and the concept of fractional chain-length [FCL] values is explored for polyolefinic acids.
