Porphyria in Old Age

Abstract
Two cases with porphobilinogen in the urine at the age of 72 are presented. One was found to have a large malignant hepatoma together with a number of smaller tumors. The second developed jaundice 6 weeks after first appearance of porphobilinogen in the urine. The jaundice was associated with a considerable transitory rise of blood pressure. The classification of these cases and others from the literature occurring in elderly people, is discussed.
