A study on the occurrence of high permeability in grain oriented silicon steel-HI-B

Abstract
The recrystallization behavior of grain oriented silicon steel was investigated using 3% silicon steel containing AlN, Sb‐Se and MnS respectively, as grain growth inhibitors. The most important factors in the production of grain oriented silicon steel with high permeability (μ10≳1900) were the cold rolling with heavy reductions of over 80% and the presence of a strong inhibitor. The heavy cold reduction brought on the small deviation of the [001] planes almost parallel to the rolling direction. This texture provides a large concentration of secondary nuclei. The heavy cold reduction induced an increase in (200) and (222) intensities in the primary texture and made the primary grains fine and favored grain growth. The presence of strong inhibitor restrains effectively an easy grain growth.
