Abstract
In recent years it has become apparent that the parental origin of genetic material has an impact on gene expression and this effect has become known as genomic imprinting. The evidence for the influence of genomic imprinting on behavior and in the etiology of certain neurobehavioral disorders is discussed. The possibilities for a role for genomic imprinting in the inheritance of behaviors related to alcohol abuse and alcoholism and in the paternal alcohol syndrome are also explored. Keywords
